Cumberland County
Quilt
Trail
The Cumberland County High School Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) has worked in the community to provide a service to people of Cumberland County--The Cumberland County Quilt Trail.
STLP students worked after school to request information from the community in the form of an interview, mark GPS waypoints for each quilt location, and to create a webpage with the quilt trail information for Cumberland County.
What you see is the final product--a website with all of the wonderful patterns located in south, central rural Cumberland County, Burkesville, KY. The site will be updated as more patterns become available.
Be sure to click each link to see each quilt pattern, a map to each location, and video footage of students meeting with community members. Videos may not be present for all quilt blocks due to the creator of the blocks. Some blocks in the community have been created with the help of a grant received from the Southern and Eastern Kentucky Tourism Committee. Be sure to check out the blocks created from this grant.
A special thanks is extended to the Cumberland County Board of Education for their support of the project. Also, the Family Resource and Youth Services Center and the Community Education offered support by way of a Service Learning Grant. Also, a special thanks to Ms. Lucille Garner and Mr. Robin Sharp for their time spent helping with the projects.
If you know of any community member that has a quilt pattern and would like to submit information to be included in the Cumberland County Quilt Trail, please click the link to submit your information or request an interview.
The following link will provide a short video of How-To create a quilt block pattern for a barn.
