Dr. Kirk Biggerstaff
On behalf of the Cumberland County School District, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our official school district website! It is with great honor and privilege that we, at Cumberland County Schools, have the great fortune of serving you and your children in a warm, nurturing educational environment. The dedication and determination of our students, staff, parents, and community members make Cumberland County a special place for kids, and we are truly blessed to be an integral portion of your life!
At CCSD, our mission is to "Success: Every Student, Every Day!" This mission is the driving force in building a strong foundation for all students in order to assist them in becoming well-prepared for their future educational career options. As Superintendent, my own professional mission is to support students, teachers, staff, and parents by promoting a safe, learning-centered culture focused on maintaining high-quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment in order to continually improve and advance academic achievement. CCSD continually strives to maintain the highest quality education for our students, and we work diligently to achieve this goal through the utilization of research-based instructional strategies designed to promote active engagement, hands-on learning, real-world connections, and higher-order thinking in order to prepare our students with the critical thinking skills required to compete in and contribute to an ever-changing global economy. CCSD continues to make gains toward proficiency, and it is our vision to help sustain this trend by helping every child become college and career ready.
